A man by the name of Evan Neumann is seeking political asylum in Belarus to prevent being prosecuted in the January 6 trials. The extreme move by Mr. Neumann is another example of the fear that the frenzied media environment and political backlash is provoking in citizens who proclaim their innocence in the January 6 incident.
While Mr. Neumann is facing charges including disorderly conduct and violently entering the Capitol Building, he is most concerned with FBI charges that he assaulted police officers at the event.
Neumann, who according to the court filing is from Mill Valley, California, said in the interview that his attorney had advised him to travel to Europe for business.
The fact that the government’s approach to discovery, detention and prosecution of the January 6 defendants has provoked this much fear is of great concern.
